The Virginia State Bar's Diversity Conference in asking for your participation and support for the 5th Annual Fore Diversity Golf Tournament to be held on Thursday, June 18th in Virginia Beach during the upcoming Annual Meeting. The tournament will benefit the mission and programs of the VSB's Diversity Conference, which "seek to make the Judiciary and the Bar both inclusive and representative of all Virginians."

Blind Spot: Hidden Biases of Good People

Event Details:

The seminar will feature Harvard psychology professor Mahzarin Banaji, Ph.D., an internationally recognized authority on the subject of implicit bias. Implicit bias is an area of neuroscience in which Dr. Banaji has invested 20 years of research and analyzed 15 million test results using a tool known as the Implicit Association Test (IAT). The findings reflect the extent to which perceptions of social groups, without the viewer's awareness, shape judgments, likes, dislikes, and conclusions of other people's character, ability and intelligence. Since the publication of her recent book, Blind Spot: Hidden Biases of Good People, Dr. Banaji has presented interactive seminars about implicit bias to judges, bar associations, law firms and Fortune 500 companies.
