The Diversity Conference is encouraging members of the Virginia State Bar to consider sponsoring a law student for the Annual Meeting this summer, June 18‐21, 2015 at Virginia Beach. The cost for a law student to attend will be $135 for a first time attendee, and if the student can stay for the alumni breakfast, an additional $20 to cover that breakfast, for a grand total of $155. The students will be asked to cover their own room and board.
We would like to bring 2 law students from every Virginia law school and we are encouraging sponsors to mentor their students over the course of the weekend, so sponsors should also plan on attending the annual meeting as well.
The alumni from the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond have already won the prize for meeting our call and sponsoring students to attend. Let’s see if other law school alumni can meet the challenge as well.
The Bar Offices have asked that the mentor fill out the conference attendance form for their sponsored student and mail it in along with their own attendance form, and include their sponsorship check with the student’s form. Anyone needing assistance in locating a mentee is invited to contact Michael Hu Young, Chair of the Diversity Conference’s Law Student Outreach Committee. Michael will be working with the law schools directly to pair up interested students with mentors.
Thank you for considering sponsoring a law student from your alma mater.
Eva N. Juncker, Chair
Diversity Conference of the Virginia State Bar.
